Endocrine disruptors: is your routine safe?

Hippocratic Oath - founding principle of Dr. Sylvie Peres' and Alaena's practice.
.
For Dr. Sylvie Peres, skin health cannot be studied independently of the environment to which the body is exposed. UV radiation, pollution, chemicals, diet, and lifestyle are all factors that can interact with the skin's biological mechanisms. This approach leads her to take a broader interest in the relationship between environment and human health. She founded and chairs the Coordination Santé Environnement du Pays Basque, an organization committed to studying and raising awareness of the links between health, environment, diet, and exposure to pollutants. This reflection directly informed Alaena's formulation principles: selecting ingredients with high standards, developing certified organic dermatological formulas, and limiting exposure to controversial substances. One guiding principle has remained since the beginning: caring for the skin without compromising its balance or that of living things.

In the Alaena Journal, Dr. Sylvie Peres applies her dermatological expertise to understanding the skin. Her articles decipher the mechanisms of skin biology based on her clinical experience and available scientific knowledge. She addresses topics such as photoprotection, skin aging, the skin barrier, cell renewal, oxidative stress, endocrine disruptors, the toxicology of cosmetic ingredients, and the influence of the environment on skin health.
Its objective: to make complex biological mechanisms accessible to allow a more accurate understanding of the skin and the ways to preserve its function.
